Southeast Neighborhood Development

This team’s overall purpose was investigating what the community wanted and needed for revitalization, with a focus on improving affordable housing. To this end, they began by establishing a communication channel between Bowman Creek Educational Ecosystem, 466 works, SOAR, NDA, and other stakeholders throughout the community to jointly strive for a shared vision. The team worked closely with 466works, on tasks that ranged from building a website for them, to brainstorming and garnering community input. Through surveying the community, we developed a better understanding of what improvements community  members desired most, and focused our efforts on these areas: housing and lighting.
Interns worked to map out vacant lots suitable for new housing.

Lighting Initiatives

After conducting neighborhood surveys, our interns identified street lights as a major concern in the Southeast Neighborhood. From there they worked to bring this issue to the attention of the city government and continue to work towards lighting up the Southeast neighborhood.
